Cars - Idling

In terms of your car, “idling” means putting the car in park and leaving it running when you could otherwise be turning it off — in a drive-thru, for instance, or waiting at the train station to pick up your friend.

- Idling a car is leaving the engine running rather than turning it off - for example, while waiting for a train (instead of keeping your foot on the brake, or putting the car in park, you can turn off the engine completely).
